La Coruña, 27 October- In competition with other major industry players, Ecoener has been awarded €7.9 million—almost 90% of the funds allocated to hybrid storage projects in renewable energy facilities in the Canary Islands.
Ecoener has secured 29% of the funds granted to the Canary Islands in the call for grants, which is based on technical, economic, environmental, social and value creation criteria.
The company will invest it in the construction of hybrid energy storage systems for the photovoltaic power stations in operation in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, in the island of Gran Canaria: Llanos de la Aldea 1 and Aldea Blanca 1, 2, 3 and 4. The total power output of the projects will be 12 MW, with a capacity of 48 MWh.
These projects consolidate Ecoener as a leader in hybrid storage systems, and they will significantly strengthen the security of the electricity supply in the Canary Islands, promoting a more stable, renewable and sustainable energy generation model.

Thus, Ecoener consolidates its leadership in the renewable energy industry in the Canary Islands, with 132 MW of installed capacity between wind and solar farms. The company is also advancing the construction of several hybrid storage systems for wind farms in Gran Canaria, with a power output of 9.5 MW and a capacity of 21.6 MWh, financed through the Next Generation EU funds.
The funding is part of the first call for grants for innovative energy storage projects promoted by the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE, by its Spanish acronym) of the Spanish Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge and co-financed by the ERDF funds for 2021-2027, pursuant to the draft resolution published by said Institute.
