La Coruña, 3 February 2026.- Ecoener has taken another step forward in its expansion plan by starting commercial operation of the Tamarindo 1 and 2 photovoltaic plants in Colombia, adding a joint capacity of 23.8 MWp.
With this new connection, the company now has 680 MW in operation, an increase of 60% since 2024. In the last six months, Ecoener has added 253 MW, the largest increase in capacity since its founding.
Colombia is an important market for Ecoener’s growth plan, with 87.5 MW already in operation, which will be joined by 27.2 MWp from the Puerto Wilches photovoltaic plant, currently under construction. In addition, a 104 MW pipeline is under development.

All Ecoener’s assets in the country are backed by 15-year Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).
Financing
The company has signed several loans in recent months with Colombian financial institutions, including Findeter, the Colombia government development bank, for a total amount of €46 million. The financing will support the Tamarindo 1 and 2, Ardobela 1 and 2 and Puerto Wilches projects, bolstering its growth plan and the financial strength of its assets in this country.
**Commitment to local and environmental development **
During the construction phase of the Tamarindos and Ardobelas projects, Ecoener created 720 jobs, of which 85% went to people from the region, strengthening its commitment to local communities.
From an environmental and biodiversity‑protection perspective, the company has launched a Biodiversity Loss Offsetting Plan in the municipality of Ocaña. The project aims to restore 300 hectares of Premontane Dry Tropical Forest, an ecosystem of great ecological and environmental value. On the social side, the company has implemented a plan aimed at improving quality of life and local development. Among the outstanding initiatives to reinforce public infrastructure is the installation of solar lighting in the neighbourhoods close to the projects, contributing to improving safety.
The company also supports local schools, benefiting 340 children, and promotes young talent with scholarships to the Fine Arts School of the Francisco de Paula Santander University as part of its commitment to education. Lastly, Ecoener has donated solar panels to improve access to renewable energy in rural areas of Colombia.
Production
The Tamarindo 1 and 2 photovoltaic plants, located in the municipality of Magangué (department of Bolívar), have some 38.000 photovoltaic modules, occupying an area of 42 hectares.
The estimated annual production of Tamarindo 1 and 2 is 47 GWh, enough to supply 12,000 homes and avoid the emission of 7,000 tonnes of CO2 and the consumption of 4,000 tonnes of fossil fuel per year.
