• The company joins the LIBERA Project through a clean-up and awareness-raising initiative, in which 180 kilos of waste were collected in natural areas near its sites.
• This is the first time a Spanish company has promoted the Libera Project internationally, thereby extending its reach and impact beyond the national level.

**La Coruña, 8 June 2026.- ** Ecoener strengthens its commitment to sustainability by joining the LIBERA Projects, an initiative created by SEO/BirdLife in collaboration with Ecoembes. Its goal is to raise awareness and engage society to take action against rubbish discarded in natural spaces (basuraleza, in Spanish).

As part of this collaboration, Ecoener organised a clean-up and waste sorting initiative in the municipality of Cumayasa (Dominican Republic), close to its photovoltaic assets. Almost 70 volunteers, including staff and members of the community, participated in the initiative, which was also joined by local, regional and national entities. In total, around 180 kilos of waste were collected.

This initiative is particularly significant in contexts such as the Dominican Republic, where there is a strong commitment to moving towards more sustainable waste management. Urban and economic growth, combined with the changing environmental needs of the region, make it particularly important to promote solutions that support the circular economy, material recovery and the protection of ecosystems.

The action is part of the new campaign 1m² contra la basuraleza (1m2 against littering), one of LIBERA’s major initiatives to encourage public participation in tackling littering in the wild. It was held to celebrate World Environment Day. Due to the international presence of Ecoener, this initiative marks a milestone for the LIBERA Project, as it is the first to be launched by a company outside Spain, thereby extending its reach and impact outside the country.

Register
In addition to waste collection, the initiative includes a key element of public awareness, as participants have identified and registered the waste they have collected. This information will be included in the project’s databases, which will allow us to identify what types of litter are being left behind, where and how much; to spot patterns; and to develop more effective prevention measures in the future.

With this initiative, Ecoener reinforces its commitment to protecting the natural environment and promoting an environmental culture based on shared responsibility and sustainability.
