**La Coruña, 11 September 2025.- **Ecoener boosts its expansion in the European Union with the upcoming construction of a 54.4 MW wind farm in Miroslovesti, in north-eastern Romania, after being awarded a Contract for Difference (CfD).
The awarded CfD has a duration of **15 years **and is directly backed by Romania. It was the only Spanish company to win a contract, securing 5% of the wind power.
The awarded contract is part of the second tender launched by the Romanian Ministry of Renewable Energy as part of a €3 billion programme designed to accelerate the country’s energy transition. Backed by the European Union’s Modernisation Fund, the Romanian Government is promoting the installation of 5 GW of renewable capacity through CfDs. These CfDs guarantee a fixed price for an established period, thus providing financial stability and predictability in long-term revenues.
The wind farm
The wind farm will have 8 state-of-the-art wind turbines with an estimated total annual production of 166 GWh.
The expected investment for the new wind farm will be around €85 million.
The company plans to begin construction of the new asset shortly, with commissioning expected in 2027. For Ecoener’s Chairman, Luis de Valdivia, “this project is a strategic milestone for the company because it will be our first asset outside Spain in the European Union and, at the same time, it will position us in a European country that is strongly promoting renewable energy production.” Luis de Valdivia also highlights that “this new contract reinforces our diversification strategy in new markets apart from Latin America. We have over 1 GW in projects under development across the European Union in countries such as Greece, Poland, Italy and Romania.”
